Working as a Influencer In Mallorca

Working as a Influencer In Mallorca

What’s involved in this type of employment?

Being an influencer involves much more than the glamorous lifestyle often portrayed on social media. While it may include exciting experiences, beautiful locations, and free products, the reality is a multifaceted role that requires significant effort and dedication.

Content creation is central to the job. Influencers must plan, shoot, and edit videos or photos, often adhering to specific guidelines set by brands. This requires creativity, technical skills, and time management to ensure that the final product meets both their standards and those of the companies they represent.

Additionally, building a successful brand is not just about travel and luxury experiences; it involves strategic marketing and community engagement. Influencers must cultivate a genuine connection with their audience, often spending considerable time on social media to interact and respond to followers.

There is also a business aspect involved. Influencers need to understand their niche, track analytics, negotiate contracts, and manage finances effectively. This often includes navigating sponsorships and collaborations, ensuring that they align with their personal brand and audience’s interests.

Overall, while there are enjoyable elements to being an influencer, the role demands hard work, persistence, and a strategic approach to maintain authenticity and engage effectively with both brands and followers.

So what’s it all about, then?

The video production and editing process has primarily been done on a voluntary basis, with a few exceptions. The excursions I participate in come at no cost, in exchange for creating the video content. Once the video is finalized and accepted, it's uploaded to YouTube, where I earn revenue through advertisements. However, the earnings are minimal—just pennies per view. Despite that, when combined with views from other videos already on the channel, those pennies can accumulate over time.

It’s a challenging endeavor, yet the real rewards lie in the excursions I’m invited on and the opportunity to meet subscribers. Engaging with this supportive community makes the effort worthwhile.

Why is it so hard?

We may have the perfect place to live and film, namely Mallorca, with its beautiful beaches, vibrant markets, and stunning landscapes. However, like any business, there are significant expenses to consider. Costs such as petrol, car parking, food, internet services, and more must be covered. To be a successful YouTuber, you need to produce videos nearly every day, focusing on engaging topics that stand out from the content of other creators in Mallorca. While I strive to keep my videos varied, it can be challenging to continuously generate fresh ideas and determine what to film and discuss. YouTube favors creators who upload consistently, which adds to the pressure. Additionally, during the hot months, filming in temperatures that can reach 45 degrees poses its own difficulties. From May to June, however, the weather is much more pleasant for outdoor activities and cycling videos.

So how do I make the money?

As previously mentioned, generating income is not straightforward. Revenue primarily comes from YouTube advertisements and the occasional paid project. I also manage content on platforms like Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram, as well as maintaining this website; however, these outlets currently yield little to no income. I hope to see changes in this area over time, as they serve to promote my videos and engage with the community.

Most of my income is supplemented through other jobs, which include guiding excursions and delivering mobility aids, such as wheelchairs and scooters, to hotels for guests. I also assist various companies as needed. Donations from viewers via Super Chats and my GoFundMe page contribute to the overall financial support, and every bit helps.

So why do it then?

I truly enjoy my channel, walking around, filming, and meeting some fabulous holidaymakers who have gained valuable insights from my videos. Additionally, I appreciate the engagement on Facebook, sharing photos, and providing daily weather updates. We have built a wonderful community together, and I hope we can grow it further. I also take pleasure in trying out various excursions, offering holidaymakers ideas on activities to explore.

So what’s next then?

I aim to continue expanding the channel by showcasing different activities and experiences for viewers. Growing our subscriber base will open more opportunities for the future, allowing me to explore more hotels on the island and connect with more interesting individuals. This growth is only possible with your support. I look forward to progressing together and discovering where this journey takes us. I am eager to collaborate further with prominent companies in Mallorca, such as Pirates, Son Amar, and various boat trips, along with other excursions I’m fortunate to be offered. Additionally, I hope to secure a sponsor to help ensure the future of the channel.
