Our Benidorm Holiday Experience
Why Did We Choose a Holiday in Benidorm?
After considering various options for an impromptu holiday, we began discussing popular TV shows such as "Bargain Living Brits" and "Benidorm," which I had only heard about but had not watched. This conversation, along with insights from my subscribers on my channel, led us to make the decision to visit Benidorm.
Next, we had to determine which area to stay in—the old town or the new part—before selecting a hotel. We opted for half board, as we wanted the opportunity to experience local restaurants while enjoying some meals at the hotel.
After extensive reading and reflection, we concluded that the old part of Benidorm would be the best choice. We were concerned that the new part might be too noisy, especially at night. Ultimately, we chose Hotel RH Princesa, conveniently located just a few minutes’ walk from the beach and both the new and old sections of Benidorm.
Our choice proved to be excellent. The food was enjoyable, the hotel rooms were comfortable, and there was entertainment available if we didn’t want to venture into the bustling areas of Benidorm. The hotel’s quiet atmosphere contributed to a restful night's sleep, making our stay delightful.
The beach was stunning, featuring a picturesque promenade that seamlessly connects the old and new sections of the town. Along this scenic path, many walkers enjoyed their evening stroll, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The trail felt unending as it meandered past the ancient castle, with numerous bars inviting visitors to pause and unwind. It truly is a delightful way to spend the evening after dinner. What better way to enjoy the moment than to sip a beer or two at one of the charming bars in the old town while taking in the sights of passersby?
The old part of Benidorm
The old part of Benidorm offers a serene atmosphere, filled with charming bars, inviting restaurants, and delightful shops to explore. For those in search of a refreshing drink, the options are abundant, ensuring every preference is catered to. Craving ice cream? You’ll find an array of flavours to satisfy your sweet tooth at every turn. I discovered a quaint café/bar that served an excellent cup of coffee, complemented by an impressive selection of cakes. Overall, the old town is truly a peaceful retreat worth visiting.
THE NEW PART OF BENIDORM
The new part of Benidorm offers a distinct experience, featuring a pleasant shopping street that caters to diverse needs, from handbags to phone chargers. Adjacent to this shopping area lies the vibrant strip, home to numerous bars, clubs, and English restaurants, all conveniently accessible within a short stroll. As you make your way through this area, familiar landmarks of Benidorm are visible, and you may even encounter some well-known personalities, popular among bargain-loving visitors.
Continuing along this road, turning right will lead you to the beach, a spot perfect for relaxation and enjoyment. Alternatively, if you choose to turn left and keep walking, you will discover the famous caravan parks that add a unique character to this lively destination.
The Famous Caravan Parks
If you enjoyed watching Bargain Brits on T.V., you’ll be familiar with the caravan parks. During a recent walk, I passed a few and was invited into one called “Camping Villamar.” This park is large, featuring numerous caravans that are neatly arranged along well-maintained roads. I also discovered a lovely swimming pool, an entertainment area, and a shop—all of which contribute to a pleasant overall atmosphere.
My Final Thoughts About Benidorm
Personally, we were delighted with our choice to stay in the old part of Benidorm. It provided easy access to the beach as well as both the new and old town. The local transportation options are excellent, featuring a reliable bus service and a tram. We took the tram to Alicante, which took about an hour each way. It’s a beautiful destination and cost us under 5 euros—truly a bargain.
In contrast, the new part of Benidorm became busy and loud in the evenings. Despite our visit occurring in January, the weather was a pleasant 20 degrees, with an enjoyable number of tourists, striking a nice balance without overwhelming crowds.
I would like to extend my gratitude to Nigel and Louis from TikTok for their guidance during my visit. For anyone with mobility challenges, there are options to easily and affordably rent mobility scooters to make getting around more accessible.
