Organised Day Trip to Menorca

Where is Menorca?

Menorca is one of the Balearic Islands, situated approximately 90 kilometers (56 miles) from Mallorca. The journey from Alcudia to Menorca takes about an hour on the fast ferry, making it a convenient destination for a day trip or weekend getaway. Known for its stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and tranquil landscapes, Menorca offers a unique experience that complements the vibrant atmosphere of its neighboring island, Mallorca.

The Trip

You will be picked up by coach and, after gathering other guests, taken to Alcudia Commercial Port. Upon arrival, you will collect your boarding passes before embarking on a fast ferry for an hour-long journey. You will disembark at Ciutadella Port, situated in the south of Menorca, where you will meet another coach and guides to begin your adventure.

Binibeca Vell

After boarding the coach, your journey begins as you admire the beautiful scenery surrounding you. Soon, you arrive at Binibeca Vell, a picturesque fishing village located in the southern part of the island. Although this charming village, characterized by its whitewashed buildings, was established in 1965, it captures the essence of a traditional fishing community. Binibeca Vell features a selection of holiday rentals, a hotel, a few inviting restaurants, and a small tourist shop, making it a delightful destination for visitors. You will have some time to explore the village's narrow streets and soak in the tranquil atmosphere before boarding the coach again for your next destination.

Mahon- The capital of Menorca.

Mahon is located on the eastern side of the island and is a fairly large town featuring a variety of restaurants, shops, and a fish market. The town also includes a port, accessible via either steps and a sloped walkway or a lift that transports visitors directly to the port area. Along the port, you'll discover numerous dining options and bars. After enjoying your lunch, this is where you will board the coach to continue your journey.

Fornells Fishing Village

You will head directly to the northern part of the island, reaching Fornells, a charming fishing village that stands in contrast to Binibeca Vells with its traditional character. Here, you will discover numerous restaurants, perfect for sampling local cuisine. After exploring the beauty of this picturesque village, you will have the opportunity to swim in the crystal-clear waters. Following this refreshing break, you will board the coach again for your next destination.

El Toro, (up the mountain)

On the journey to our next destination, we ascend to the summit of El Toro, the highest mountain in Menorca. At 358 meters above sea level, this remarkable vantage point offers stunning views, with Mallorca visible on clear days. El Toro is not only a natural landmark but also hosts the Sanctuary of Vergo Del Toro, which features a quaint shop and a charming tea room for visitors to enjoy. After soaking in the sights, we will continue on our way.

Ciutadella- The old capital of Menacor

The final stop is the beautiful old capital, Ciutadella. There is much to explore, from the picturesque port to the charming old town featuring a stunning cathedral. You'll find numerous quaint shops and inviting side streets to discover. When you feel ready to unwind, there's a lovely garden where you can relax and wait for the coach to take you back to the port and ultimately home to Mallorca.

Final Thoughts

It was a full day filled with a variety of activities, from swimming in the picturesque port of Fornells to shopping in the island's capital, Mahón. Alternatively, you could simply relax with a coffee or a meal at one of the numerous restaurants available. While this was an organized trip, with some research, it would be enjoyable to explore independently and even consider spending the night in a local hotel.
